Giftedness and Autism

This is the first in a series of posts on the subject of giftedness that I will write over the next few weeks until my next big project takes hold. I'm only writing a lot of this to get it out of my head. A friend recently posted on Facebook that the way to figure out what you should be doing as an adult is to remember what you used to do as a child that you lost yourself in. What did you do that made you lose all sense of time and get totally absorbed in? For a lot of people the answer will be drawing or reading, for me the answer is writing. Not creative writing or story writing, I'm surprisingly terrible at that for someone who is pretty good at spinning a yarn out of an anecdote. No, I'm an academic writer. I like to write while I think. I like to plan out my thoughts and formalise them outwardly. I think usually people who like to formalise and externalise their thoughts make YouTube videos, but verbal outlets aren't as good for me as written ones. So I ill carry ...

Lastly, I want to say that although different factions of feminism do and need to exist, there is an important overlap in the issue of gender as an enforced social norm that everyone needs to be fighting together to eradicate. Because sexism is b...

Terfs vs Farts

Arguing Logically, FARTs vs TERFs, Establishing First Principles. Also swearing. How to Argue: Identify scope Define terms Express relations Follow implications Draw conclusions Decorate Ah Twitter. Home of the righteous, the enraged and the political. How we love to loathe thee. But we cannot ignore that much of the relevant engagement in social and political life is now framed in these nuggetty chunks of interaction and certainly one of the best tools of modern feminism is gifted by the accessibility of Twitter to women who would otherwise have little way of voicing their concerns and opinions with policymakers. The raging debate between radical feminists and radical trans activists is largely located online - although of course there are demographic differences between varying sites, Reddit, Tumblr, Facebook et al. My own demographic as a late millennial (ugh. Child Of The 80s) precludes my involvement in some arenas. I have recently moved my own feminist rage...
